How Did I Get Here?
My interest
in cooking goes back many years...probably the first time I "consciously"
tasted the food that was in my mouth (about four years old!). I
enjoyed watching cooking shows on TV such as Julia, and The Galloping
Gourmet
but, like most people, my eating skills progressed at a much faster pace
than my cooking abilities! In fact, it wasn't until about fifteen years
ago that my chef talents began to develop.
It was about that
time that my wife started her own business, and due to her
long hours, I found I had to fend for myself when dinnertime came around!
My interest in, and enjoyment of cooking began to take flight, and soon it
was "My Kitchen" (at least according to my wife)!
I found myself preparing meals for family and friends, to
rave reviews. My profession to this point had centered around
computers, but now my wife would tell people that "Ted can cook too!"
Well, my new career path became deliciously clear. I
would become a Chef!
After researching the various paths available to realize my goal, I found
the Personal Chef industry to be the most appealing. I learned all the
ins and outs of the business at the United States Personal Chef Institute,
became ServSafe certified, and started my new career!
Unlike most restaurant chefs, I
serve my patrons on a one-to-one basis. I learn their likes and
dislikes, their special needs, their absolute favorite meals, and I work
with them to design a menu that pleases each member of the family! I
prepare all kinds of special diets as well!
I genuinely enjoy being a chef, and after all, people
achieve their best when doing what they love! This is very satisfying
and enjoyable work.
I have even had my
own radio show! A client gave my services to her parents for a
Christmas present and it turns out she is in the radio biz! She
offered me a chance to do a weekly, hour long, live, show about cooking!
You never know...
I have also been published in Personal Chef Magazine, and I
did write a column
for a local newspaper.

ADDENDUM - After over 5
years of performing (yes, many times it is a performance!) my Personal Chef
Service, I thought it was time to "update my resume" as it were.
If you've listened to any of my
PODCASTS you will know that my wife and I have
changed our diets to a PH/Vegan-friendly style. We've both noticed
numerous positive changes in our health and the way we feel, and this
motivates us to continue exploring the definite connection between
what we put in our bodies and our health.
I have become very passionate about this and have been
teaching some vegetarian cooking classes for a local person who publishes a
holistic health resource directory. I've also started doing some
macrobiotic cooking for a client and have incorporated some of those
concepts into my own diet as well.
I
firmly believe that nutrition is the key to ALL health problems, and I'm
pleased that I am in a career that can offer people the knowledge (and the
food!) to help.
